Gold Coast Marathon/SCU 10km Run

 

Congratulations to Leanne Pompeani on winning the Women’s 10km Run at the Gold Coast Marathon on the 6th of July 2019 at Southport, Queensland.

Despite windy conditions, Leanne ran strongly, clocking a time of 00:33:00 to be the first of 2,610 female competitors to cross the line.

2019 Sydney:10

 

The NSW 10km Road Running Championships were held as part of the Sydney:10 event at Sydney Olympic Park on 4th May 2019.

Over 500 runners participated in the Women’s 10km race, with Woden’s Leanne Pompeani taking line honours in 33:02.48.

A fabulous effort from Leanne – CONGRATULATIONS!

 

2019 NSW 5000m Championships

 

Congratulations to Woden Thunder’s Leanne Pompeani on her run in the Open Womens event at the NSW 5000m Championships on 2nd February 2019.

Leanne crossed the line third in a time of 16:25.59.

Well done!

 

Queanbeyan Gift 2017

 

What a day for Woden Thunder at the Queanbeyan Gift on Saturday 9 December!

In the Open Women’s 120m Gift, Grace Brennan (red bib) backed up from 2016 with another second placing, this time running off a backmarker. Her time of 13.86 was narrowly beaten by Andrea Thompson who took out the race in 13.60.  Although from the Queanbeyan Club, Andrea is coached by Woden’s own Phil Alchin.

In the Open Men’s 120m Gift, Angus Proudfoot ran second in a time of 12.27 with Nathan McNab just a whisker behind in 12.28 to take third place. The eventual winner of the Men’s Gift was Michael Hanna from Sydney.

Angus had a busy day – not only did he run heats, semis and a final in the Gift, he also ran heats and a final in the Novice Vets race which he won in a time of 12.46!

Queanbeyan Gift 2016

 

Congratulations to Woden Thunder athlete Grace Brennan who placed second in the Open Women’s 120m Gift at Queanbeyan on Saturday 26 November.

Grace (in the pink bib) picked up a nice bonus of $1,100.00 for 2nd placing.

Julia Phillips (white bib) from Western Australia won the race with local Queanbeyan runner, Andrea Thompson (yellow bib) taking out 3rd.

Woden Athletics was well represented at the Gift with many of our athletes making it through to semi finals and finals.
